It is a tribute to our great PT Branch and Corps family that I am pleased to report that we all had a wonderful PT Branch Reunion on the weekend of 24-26 October 2014 at Lympstone! Everything went to plan and we had over 130 former and serving PTI’s attend the evening dinner celebrations in the P & RT Centre in grand style!
We owe a huge vote of thanks to the AIPTRM, WO1 Mick Seabrook RM and the PT staff at Lympstone, for organising the whole weekend in such a fine manner. Amongst many other things, the layout and dressing of the tables for the evening dinner was stunning and the organisation was superb!
During the morning AGM the PT Reunion Club committee was re-elected en bloc. As you will know, it was my intention to stand down as your Hon Chairman this year but I have been persuaded to carry on for a bit longer and so am very pleased to continue to do my little bit for you all and thank you for your kind support.
We were especially pleased to see those who had come from far and wide to be with us for our special weekend including Brian Gibbs (France), Rory Macullum and his son Lewis from New Zealand, Bernie Plunkett MBE from N.I.(via Afghanistan!) , Paul & Elaine Bamford (Spain) and one of our most stalwart supporters, Martin Joyce BEM (and Cliodhna) who interrupted his latest fishing trip in Mexico to be with us!
We were also very pleased to see some of our former PTI colleagues who have not attended for a while. These included Terry Harrison MBE (who has not been back for 37 years!), Peter & Sue Digby (40 years) Derek (Jan, the Navy PTI) & Jenny Pearce (30 + years) and Jacques Hart, who has been absent for quite a while! It was great to have them and many others with us!
We are particularly grateful to WO1 Mick Seabrook AIPTRM for all of his very hard work, together with the PT staff at CTCRM for organising a wonderful weekend, that provided us all with a chance to get an update on training, what’s happening in the corps, catch up with former colleagues and have a lot of fun! All those attending agreed that it was one of the very best PT Reunions to be held! Sadly, Mick will be going on draft to Dartmouth in February and we wish him all the very best. During the evening event we made a presentation to Mick in gratitude for his efforts.
Finally, we have just managed to receive the photos that were expertly taken by PTI/phot. Sgt Rich Harley and you can contact Rich by either email (email@example.com) or call him on 07909 333444 to order copies. The main PT Reunion Photo (12” x 7”) can be sent to you for £15 (payable by cheque, or PayPal), and the other photos (10” x 8”) can be sent for £10 each. Just contact Rich and he will guide you. The 2014 PT Reunion photos are shown in the photos section of this website.
Finally, for your diaries, we have already managed to get the dates confirmed for the next PT Reunion at Lympstone and this will be 14-16th October 2016. Mark it in your planners now!
I do hope that you like the look of the recently improved RMPT website and that you will send any articles, photos etc to me for future inclusion.
Thank you all for your great support!
With all good wishes,
(Peter Brown MBE MSc.
Hon Chairman RM PT Reunion Club)
