The Royal Marines Officers' Dinner Club
The RMODC runs an annual black-tie reception and dinner for serving and retired Royal Marines officers, held in a prestigious London location. Founded in 1863, it is one of the oldest military dining clubs. The first dinner was held at Willis’s Rooms in King Street, St James’s and the next known dinner took place in the Whitehall Rooms of the Hotel Metropole on 9 June 1892. In recent years the event has been held at Stationers’ Hall.
There are currently over 700 members of the RMODC and a typical dinner attracts around 120 members. Dinners are also used as YO batch reunions but, with no set seating plan, or indeed speeches, it is a relaxed and enjoyable opportunity to catch up with old RM friends in a grand setting, along the lines of a regimental dinner night.
The RMODC Committee, under the Chairmanship of Maj Gen Tim Chicken OBE and supported by the Corps Secretary, plan and organise each dinner, whilst ensuring the smooth running of the club and safeguarding its financial viability.Secretary
