Comments:  Upon clearing out my recently-deceased father's papers (Marine then Corporal William Thomas Harmer), I discovered that he had been a member of the RMA. My father served in the RM throughout WW2, notably having been present off Norway, at Dunkirk, and his ship HMS Calcutta was sunk under him off Crete on 1st June 1941. Latterly he was at Bergen-op-Zoon (NL) and with HMS Commonwealth in Kure, Japan before being posted to the Admiralty as a clerk and then demobilised ca. 1951 due to physical - eyesight - inaptitude. His service number was CHX 3082, and I have his parchment service record and five WW2 medals (with a clasp), plus some mementoes and correspondence. If you feel that any of his information would be relevant to you, then please let me know. Lastly, I also have quite a lot of documents, (including service records) etc relating to HIS father, W.T Harmer who served as a Marine (later Lance-Sergeant) from 1901 until ca. 1922 in the RMLI (CH 12983) I have some photos of him ca WW1 and of some of his ships (HMS' Hyacinth & Juno), but his medals were sold by his widow in 1971. I have written an account of him(including service as a Lieut. in the Home Guard in WW2)for eventual publication in the Harmer Family Association Newsletter, and if you are interested, I can provide more details.

Comments:  Ian Bushin-Libberton....does anyone out there remember him? He's my dad, and did his National Service with the Royal Marines from 1958 to 1960, in Eastney, Portsmouth, then on to Lympstone, Plymouth. He was in 42 Commando / 928 Squad, and I believe he was also in the MT Section for a while. He was also part of a Motor Cycle Display Team, and participated in the RM Exhibition at Eastney in July 1959. I would love to hear from anyone who remembers my dad and/or has any photo's of that time.
