AFGHANISTAN BEER CAMPAIGN

The next initiative to support the men and women of 3 CommandoBrigade Royal Marines is a beer campaign.  A brewery, the Red Rat Craft brewery, has come up with a bottled beer (500ml – which is just under a pint) called the Globe andLaurel.  Each bottle costs £2, of which 50p goes to the RMA to cover the shoebox campaign costs that have been very high this year.  More importantly it is our opportunity to thank all the members of Task Force Helmand for their hard work and bravery on the tour.  A copy of the label to be placed on the bottle is attached.

The process for ordering the beer is simple.  If you place an order with us at Central Office with a cheque made payable to:  “RMA (beer)”, we will place an order with the brewery and they will deliver the beer to the units that were part of the Brigade in Afghanistan.  It is possible to stipulate which unit you want the beer to go to, but if not I will distribute it evenly throughout the Task Force.  The beer will be despatched in July once the units are back from leave and you can place your orders with me at any time between now and the end of June.

I can ensure that Branches will receive invites to local units to help deliver the beer if wished.  Central Office has begun the campaign by ordering 250 bottles.  There is no minimum or maximum order. It is just an opportunity to further show the Corps how much we appreciate them.
